Corby Jets vs Farndon
A competitive game with both teams out to have an impact. Farndon Foods took the lead in the first quarter scoring twice the number of Jets goals. Corby Jets pulled back in the second quarter with brilliant midcourt play from Nicola Brooks and superb defence from teammate Sarah Norman. Farndon went on to win 69-40, with thanks to outstanding skill from defensive duo Claire Price and Hannah Page.
MHBC’s vs Foxton Mavericks
The anticipated clash of MHBC’s vs Foxton Mavericks resulted in an exciting, and hard-fought game with great performance shown by all who played. Formidable shooting from BC’s attacker Jo Burch ensured they won the first quarter. By the end of the second half Mavericks had levelled the score 18-all. Defender Alex Colotto worked tirelessly, determined not to let the ball get into BC’s shooters. By the third quarter, Mavericks were ahead by a single goal. Incredible shooting in the last few minutes of the game from ace shooter Nat Billington, took Mavericks three goals ahead, and on to win the game 40-37.
Forman Falcons vs Aircare Thunder
The young Forman Falcons came out strong and determined from the first centre pass. With a superbly skilled defensive duo of Sian Brewin and Alex Boxall, making Thunder work extremely hard to get the ball into their shooting circle. Thunder were determined not to let the Falcons run away with the game, helped with great defensive play from Molly Barrow. In the end Falcons took the victory 48-38.
Foxton Flyers & Harborough Harriers
A rare win for Foxton Flyers has set the second half of their season off to a great start. Flyers had a strong defence in Yvette Heywood and Laura Burgess, who both worked tirelessly to keep Harborough Harriers at bay. Harriers gained points from the game drawing the final quarter and coming within half of Flyers score, thanks to brilliant shooting from Emma Walker. The game ended 44-26 to Flyer’s.
Turners Tornados vs Lutterworth Robins
Another exciting game of the afternoon with Turners Tornados taking the first quarter by storm. Tornados won the first quarter 11-3. With thanks to skilled attacking play by Sophie Chester, and despite brilliant defence from Turners Kirsty Bishop. Lutterworth Robins refused to give in easily and came back fighting in the second quarter, with great midcourt play by Sarah Pitts. By the start of the third quarter Tornados were ahead by only 3 goals. Fearless play by Robin’s defence Linsey Allan helped to keep Tornados goals down and aided the result of a 32-all draw.
Aircare Lightning vs Snowfinders
Snowfinders took the lead from the first whistle and extended it every quarter. Aircare Lightnings attacking duo Hannah Forman and Liz Jennings played brilliantly together but could not catch up with Snowfinders. Sophie Crow and Lily-Rose Horton were Snowfinders notable players, taking their team to victory 36-29.
