Foxton Mavericks vs Turner’s Tornadoes

The afternoon started with a convincing performance from Foxton Mavericks, against a depleted Turner’s Tornadoes. Despite being a player down Tornadoes play with grit and determination, with a staunch defence of the circle from the skilled Kirsty Bishop. Dynamic and daring shooting duo Jenny Dance and Nat Billington proved too strong for the Tornadoes and from the first centre pass Mavericks raced to the lead. Mavericks were victorious 70-10.

Aircare Thunder vs MHBC’s

A strong Market Harborough Business Club team took on Aircare Thunder in the second match of the afternoon. BC’s ploughed into the lead, with sharpshooter Hannah Stratton working her magic in the circle. Despite Thunder’s super skilled defender Maisy Williamson working hard to slow her down. Thunder picked up the pace making for a better third quarter, with the talented Molly Barrow working to narrow the gap in the scoreline. The final quarter saw BC’s seal the deal with superb defending from Sophie Mills. At the final whistle, BC’s were in the lead 66-11.

Harborough Harriers vs Knighton Netball Club

Second season Harborough Harriers took on the experienced Knighton Netball Club. Harriers defender Amy Westaway fearlessly worked to keep Knighton’s score down. While versatile teammate Emma Walker played in a valiant attempt to close the gap in the final quarter. Knighton’s Gemma Rumble received notability from both opposition and the scorers for her impact on the game both in attack and defence. At the final whistle, Knighton took the win 62-9.

Aircare Lightning vs Lutterworth Robins

The closest matched game of the afternoon saw Aircare Lightning take on the Robins from Lutterworth. Lightning struck into the lead with a convincing first quarter. Robins refused to give in easily and tightened their defence with skilled play from tenacious Cat Hanger. The third quarter saw Lightning take charge again, with great defence from determined Jodie Haines, linking to brilliant midcourt play by Elise Tear. Robins Captain and speedy midcourt player Sarah Pitts motivated her team to stay within half of the winner’s score, ensuring they earnt points despite losing to Lightning 24-33.

Snowfinders vs Siamo Sirens

Siamo Sirens, this season’s newest team took on the young and fiery Snowfinders. Determined Sirens demonstrated some nice link-up play, particularly between Liv O’Brien and Poppy Burgess. However, Snowfinders staked their claim on the game from the off. With strength the length of the court they quickly stretched their lead with brilliant shooting from eagle-eyed Amy Pelling and outstanding defence from Gracie Barkworth. Snowfinders took all available points and won 76-7.
