Aircare Lightning vs Forman Falcons

First to the court this week was a thrilling match between two of the younger teams in the league; Lightning & Formans. Lightning were fast and furious from the off, with Captain Hannah Forman on fantastic form, leading her team from the shooting circle. From a commanding halftime 22-10 score, Lightning continued strongly in the second half, although the Falcons pulled back to within half the winning score with superb link-up play between Molly Blyth & Livvy Percival up the court. Final score 48-29 to Lightning.

Club Correze vs Lutterworth Robins

With the Club Correze Kim Walton & Clare Glynn pairing back on court together for the first time this season, this match was a tough ask for Lutterworth Robins. The Robins brought the game to Club Correze, however, playing impressive netball, especially with the control of the centre court from Sarah Pitts and through the tenacious attitude throughout from Cat Hanger in defence. The scoreline by the final whistle had seen Club Correze stride to a commanding lead at 60-28.

Harborough Harriers vs Siamo Sirens

In the 10thAnniversary year of Back 2 Netball, the pride of Market Harborough hit the court this weekend with two of the latest Harborough Back 2 Netball teams pitted against one another. The latest cohort, Siamo Sirens took first blood, winning the first quarter 6-4 and taking their first point! Aimee McGrory was fierce and fiery in her control of the shooting circle, on form for the Sirens. However, after the first break, the Harriers came out determined and focused with some excellent plays up court. Emma Walker’s shooting was on form, backed up by her defender, Laura Heaton. The game was a fantastic celebration of women’s sport with both teams taking their first points of the season and Harriers taking their first league wins. Well done ladies. Final score; 36 – 24 to the Harriers.

Snowfinders vs MHBC

Market Harborough Business Club, still fired up from their Summer league success were calm and confident as they began their match against the Snowfinders youngsters. Snowfinders took control of the match from the first centre pass, however, and took the first quarter 12-9. MHBCs came back hard and through controlled and determined centre court play from Jackie Brooks & Natasha Mackness took the lead by halftime. The second half saw some switches in the Snowfinders team with Hattie Bates leading her team from the centre and Amy Pelling point-perfect in Goal Shooter. The third quarter was drawn, but the experienced MHBCs pulled away in the final quarter to take the win 54-41.

Turner’s Tornadoes vs Knighton

Newcomers Knighton have had an impressive start to the season but were in need of a win after the tough match last weekend. Harri Caple at Goal Keeper was impressive in her dominance of the defending circle and had quite the battle against Harborough’s much-loved, motivational Goal Shooter, Karen Chapman. Supported by their Centre, Jess Hughes, Turner’s Tornadoes worked tirelessly but were simply outplayed by the Leicester visitors who took all the available points, finishing the match victorious at 61-21.
