Match Report 4th November 2017

Foxton Mavericks vs MHBCs

A highlight of the afternoon with these two teams coming head-to-head in a feisty hard-fought game. Both were determined to come out on top. MHBC’s played with grit and determination, with formidable shooting from Janet Smith and strong linking play from Jackie Brooks. However, Mavericks were not to be beaten. They worked together and maintained control, with brilliant play from Rachel Marsh (AKA the Tasmanian devil) and Sarah Van Nierop. Foxton Mavericks totally smashed it with a 43-26 victory.

Foxton Flyers vs Lutterworth Robins

A tough match for the injury-stricken Flyers. They put up a good fight in their attempt to stay in the game. With brilliant play from Sarah Stoney, who whipped around the court making valuable interceptions and passes. Robins played well throughout and deserved the win, with notable play from Kerry Foot who was dynamic in her movement and passes down the court.  In the end, Robins won 49-17.

Aircare Lightning vs Farndon Foods

A heated game, with points going to both teams. Lightning defended well, with Kate Christie working hard to keep the ball from Farndon’s formidable shooter, Clare Glynn. Great linking play from Lightnings’ Emma Hadkiss, who was determined throughout. Again, notable defending was shown but this time by Farndon’s Kate Garner. In the end, Farndon took the win 57-35.

Corby Jets vs Snowfinders

An exciting game, with the young Snowfinders coming close to gaining points for being within half the winners score. Corby Jets were strong, inching ahead at every quarter. Their notable players were Emily Sierra and attacker Erika Winch. Snowfinders were strong in attack with great play from Esme Bliss and defence from Tilly Higgs. Corby Jets came out on top 72-34.

Aircare Thunder vs Harborough Harriers

Aircare Thunder had strength across the court with notable play from Lisa Gariano and Molly Barrow. Harriers increased their score every quarter, with great play from Connie Westaway and Emma Walker. In the end, the leagues newest team were outplayed by the experienced Thunders, who took the win 68-16.

Forman’s Falcons vs Turner’s Tornados

The young Falcons took the lead from the start. Maisie Williamson was determined in defence, keeping the ball from the grasp of Turners’ shooters. Grace Brooks kept the pressure up on the opposite end of the court, with consistent, brilliant shooting. Tornado played well as a team with notable skill from Harriet Mullis and Jess Hughes, but in the end, they were outplayed by the Falcons, who won 63-22.
